The Derby at Vermont Pool And Bar
All events will be played using APA rules.
Doors will open at 10am. Players must be registered by 10:45am. 11am players meeting. Play will begin by 11:15am
Entry fee is $40 per person, per format. Re-buy is $30. Entering all three events ahead of time gives you half price re-buys.
March 28th – Blind draw, 9-Ball scotch doubles. Double elimination. Played by points, using the Las Vegas race chart. The blind draw will be monitored for fairness. No re-buy. WINNERS: CINDY FELONEY & RYAN GOUVIN.
April 4th – 9-Ball singles. Points race by skill level. Single elimination. No bracket. Derby style. $30 re-buy*.
April 18th – 8-Ball singles. Regular APA races by skill level. Single elimination. No bracket. Derby style. $30 re-buy*.
- · *If a player loses a match, they have the option to buy back into the next round. Once the tournament has reached the finals, the re-buys are forfeited and it becomes a single elimination match.
- · Derby style – Because players can “re-buy” back into the tournament there is not a tournament bracket. Every round is a random draw. It is possible to face the same opponent again in the next round because the draw is random and done every round.
Master of the Table – This title will be awarded to the player having accumulated the highest points across the three tournaments. The winners of each round will receive one point for the round.
To add an extra element of surprise, the table size will be drawn as random as the players are. Both 7ft and 9ft tables will be used throughout the entire tournament.
No outside food. Food will be available by donation. 50% goes to the chefs, 50% goes to the teams for travel assistance.
The 50/50 raffle tickets will be available March 8th, through the drawing on April 18th.
The Cue package raffle tickets will be available March 11th, through the drawing on April 18th.
There will be various gift baskets available for raffle beginning March 28th, through the drawing on April 18th.
Photos of the cue package and gift baskets will be made available as soon as possible.
This is an APA event; players do not need to be APA members to participate.
It is open to everyone 21 and over.
1ST PLACE WINNER(S) IN EACH EVENT will receive the APA Green Diamond Trophy, gift certificates, and pool accessories.
The intention of this derby is to raise funds for the Masters and Ladies travel assistance. There will not be a cash payout.
We will be keeping costs to a minimum. Outside food is not allowed. We are looking for gift basket donations.
Gift baskets can be themed or something you enjoy doing (quilting, crocheting, knitting, etc.). If you would like to donate baked goods, a description or picture of what your basket will contain will be fine until raffle day. Please keep in mind that the raffle will not be until April 18th.
We have small Masters and Ladies divisions. They do not have a reasonable opportunity to raise the amount of funds necessary to support an entire team’s travel assistance through league play.
