APA NEWSLETTER FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT 21st2025
OFFICE HOURS 9AM TO 5PM MONDAY THRU FRIDAY, CLOSED SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
This is the last week for Sunday and Monday envelopes since they are a week behind because of Labor Day.
On Tuesday there was an issue with the app that caused it to go down for an hour or so. I wanted to remind everyone what to do in that situation since we are done with envelopes, except for patch weeks. When the app goes down you are supposed to use paper score sheets until the app comes back up, which is why I enclosed blank score sheets in your last weeks envelopes. Once the app is back up and running, you can switch back to using it on the next match and then enter the matches from the paper into the app after you are done unless you have another player do it on their phone. Remember there will be no more weekly envelopes to turn in your score sheets. The drop locations should have blank score sheets in the red APA binder.
As of right now we have enough 8 and 9 ball teams to get 3 slots of each for the World Championships, that is if this stays the same through spring session.
Remember that home teams must pick up envelopes when I post in the newsletter that patch envelopes will be out. If your players wish to enter the drawing for the trip to Vegas they must enclose $1 per patch and write paid by their name on the enclosed sheet and drop it off within 2 weeks. The drawing is held at the 9 ball World Qualifier in June.
This year 30 out of the 307 players invited signed up for the Flyaway Sportsmanship Invitational. I am sure it is because of the passport requirement to participate. I encourage all of you to apply for your passport before June of next year to make sure you have it before the next tournament. Just so you know your passport is good for 10 years after it is issued.
Here is a list of the singles board dates through the end of November. You must be on an active Fall roster with 10 weekly plays in the last 2 years in the format you are shooting in and remain active if you qualify. The board winners will qualify for the Spring Regional. Regional winners will advance to the 2026 APA POOLPLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIPS in LAS VEGAS April/May 2026. Preregistration is required by 8pm the day before the board. Text 515-371-4094. Singles board dates: SEPTEMBER 27th 8 BALL, OCTOBER 11th 9 BALL, OCTOBER 25th 8 BALL, NOVEMBER 8th 9 BALL. All boards are held at the Rack and start at 11am. We need at least 20 players to run a guaranteed qualifying board and you must stay until the end. If you drop out early you will not get your money back. Make sure you encourage your lower skill level players to try. They have the best odds at regionals and in Vegas.
Remember, you have to play to win!

JOKE OF THE WEEK
Mike Mooney A Yankee was driving through the south when he decided he wanted to buy a pig. He stopped at a pig farm and told the farmer he wanted to buy a 100 pound pig. The farmer nodded, walked out into the sty, bent over and picked up a pig by its tail with his teeth. The farmer said, "This one will go a little over a 100". Astonished the Yankee said, "Who are you trying to fool? You can't weigh a pig that way". The farmer laughed and called to his young son, "Boy, come over here and weigh that pig for this man". The boy obliged by bending over and picking up the pig by its tail with his teeth. Turning to his father the boy said, " This here pig weighs about 100 pounds". The Yankee was having no part of this so in order to convince him the farmer told his son to go to the house and get his mother so she could weigh the pig. After a short delay the son returned and said, "Ma says she will be right down after she's finished weighing the mailman".
