APA NEWSLETTER FOR THE WEEK OF OCT 05th2025
OFFICE HOURS 9AM TO 5PM MONDAY THRU FRIDAY, CLOSED SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
Next week will be envelope and patch week. That means it is up to the home team to pick up the envelopes containing the patches and any other info that are enclosed.
I want to remind everyone to mark your safeties. APA defines a safety as any turn at the table when the player is not attempting to pocket a ball and pass the turn to the opposing player.
We have holidays coming up. If you have players who may miss days because of that, make sure you try and play those matches in advance.
Since winter is just around the corner, I want to remind everyone that league is only canceled if the interstate is closed. If you do not feel safe to travel, reach out to the opposing team and see if the match can be played the following day. Do not just decide if 1 player can’t make it, then the whole team doesn’t show. It is better to have 1 match to make up then it is to have 5.
SINGLES BOARDS
Here is a list of the singles board dates through the end of November. You must be on an active Fall roster with 10 weekly plays in the last 2 years in the format you are shooting in and remain active if you qualify. The board winners will qualify for the Spring Regional. Regional winners will advance to the 2026 APA POOLPLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIPS in LAS VEGAS April/May 2026. Preregistration is required by 8pm the day before the board. Text 515-371-4094. Singles board dates: OCTOBER 11th 9 BALL, OCTOBER 25th 8 BALL, NOVEMBER 8th 9 BALL. All boards are held at the Rack and start at 11am. We need at least 20 players to run a guaranteed qualifying board and you must stay until the end. If you drop out early you will not get your money back. Make sure you encourage your lower skill level players to try. They have the best odds at regionals and in Vegas.
Remember, you have to play to win!
Matches Played Plaques: Derek McNerney, Chris Hudson, Brandon Gulick, Travis Auch, Nichole Graham, Teszren Ayers, Rick Pohlmeier, Allison Furman, Heather Deacker, Jessica Johnson, Thomas Burk, Jenny Lynch, Art Heinzer, Andrew Gamble, James Bishop, Terri Steinke.
MIP/New Team Cue Winner: Jacob Auge, Brandon Carlson, Kaleb Nguyen, Jack Martin, Alli Furman, Darlene Hill, Maddy Murphy, Scott Breitman, Tina Diaz Smith, Noah Gomis. I will have these at all APA Tournaments.
JOKE OF THE WEEK
A small tourist hotel was all abuzz about an afternoon wedding where the groom was 95 and the bride was 23.
The groom looked pretty feeble and the feeling was that the wedding night might kill him, because his bride was a healthy, vivacious young woman.
But lo and behold, the next morning, the bride came down the main staircase slowly, step by step, hanging onto the banister for dear life.
She finally managed to get to the counter of the little shop in the hotel. The clerk looked really concerned, “Whatever happened to you, honey? You look like you’ve been wrestling an alligator!”
The bride groaned, hung on to the counter and managed to speak, “Oh God! When he told me he’d been saving up for 75 years, I thought he meant his money!!”
