MVAPA World Qualifier Rules

First and foremost, congratulations! Your team worked hard to get here today and you should all be very proud of yourselves! This is a HIGHER LEVEL TOURNAMENT and all HLT rules (and patches 😊) are in place.

SUMMIT LANES REMINDERS:

*No outside food or beverage.

*No vaping or smoking indoors will be tolerated. All smoking should be out the front door or the door closest to the bar. The doors by the Pit are NOT to be used (emergency exit only).

*No children are permitted in/on the tournament playing area.

COMMON PLAYERS: We have set up the brackets so that teams with 2 or more common shooters are not in the same bracket. If you are a single shooter on two teams, and those teams face each other, we recommend that you sit out. If you “declare” a team, you are essentially removing yourself from the other roster.

INELIGIBLE PLAYERS: Players deemed ineligible for WQs are not permitted to participate in time outs, player selection etc…

SCORE KEEPING: BOTH teams must keep full and accurate scores. If a match ends early, please write “DNF” in the bottom of the scoring area.

SUDDEN DEATH: If the rack is not struck on the fifth match at the time listed below, we WILL institute sudden death. 3 ½ hours for 8 ball, 3 hours for 9 ball

1st rack in 8 ball is worth 2 points, 2nd rack (if needed) is worth 1 point

Each ball in 9 ball is worth double its value

TIE BREAKING PROCEDURES: In the event of a tie in points, the winner will be determined by the team that won the most individual matches.

CLOSE HITS: If an outside observer is not requested, the call goes to the shooter.

TIME OUT/COACHING: Every player gets ONE timeout, regardless of skill level. Time outs are not to exceed 1 minute. There is a timer for each table…when a coach approaches the table for a timeout, they are to start the timer and set it on the tables edge. The opponent may also speak with their shooter during this time out.

NO MEMBER OF A TEAM IS TO TALK WITH THE SHOOTER DURING THEIR MATCH! Teams who violate this rule will…

1. Be charged a time out if they have one available or

2. Give ball in hand for receiving illegal coaching (OTM Page 54, Rule F)

NO EARBUDS, CELL PHONES, BLUTOOTH DEVISES, SMART WATCHES ETC… DURING PLAY

MARK YOUR POCKET IN 8 BALL! Failure to do so will result in a loss of game. DO NOT MARK THE POCKET WITH CHALK, CHALK HOLDER OR ANY FORM OF CHALK.

SLOW PLAY: Slow play will not be tolerated! We will be closely monitoring slow play all day and violators will receive warnings which could result in ball in hand.

1st Infraction- We will warn the Captain and shooter between racks (will be noted on score sheet as SP1)

2nd Infraction- We will tell the shooter at the time of the infraction (will be noted on score sheet as SP2)

3rd Infraction- We will award your opponent ball in hand

Please remember that teams have ONE MINUTE to put up players. Please make sure your player is at the table, ready to shoot when it’s their turn.

There will be A LOT of people in the tournament. We expect teams to be respectful of space and seating. If your team is assigned to play in the pool room, please limit the amount of shooter and equipment in the room.

Have fun, Have respect! AND VIVA LAS VEGAS, BABY!
