I want to set the record straight on matches needed. We have a number of APA tournaments coming up that I’m hoping to have large turnouts for and just level-setting what’s expected to enter those tournaments is a good idea. You must be active and in good standing in Greater South Atlanta APA along with any of the below requirements.
Summer Session League Play: ALL players need 6 games to qualify for playoffs and tri-annuals.
Fall Session League Play: ALL players need 6 games to qualify for playoffs and tri-annuals.
Spring Session League Play: ESTABLISHED players need 6 games to qualify for playoffs and tri-annuals. NEW players need 10 games to qualify for playoffs and tri-annuals.
SHOWDOWN SERIES LAS VEGAS QUALIFYING EVENTS (8-Ball Doubles, 9-Ball Doubles, Jack and Jill 8-Ball, Singles 8 & 9-Ball, Ladies 8-Ball, Wheelchair Championship):
Jack and Jill Doubles Qualifying Tournament on Dec 20th: Participants need to have an established handicap (meaning having played at least 10 lifetime games) to play in the qualifying tournament AND they will need to have played 20 league matches in 8-Ball within the last 2 years by March, 2026. 8-Ball Doubles Qualifying Tournament on Feb 21st: Participants need to have an established handicap (meaning having played at least 10 lifetime games) to play in the qualifying tournament AND they will need to have played 20 league matches in 8-Ball within the last 2 years by March, 2026. 9-Ball Doubles Qualifying Tournament on Feb 22nd: Participants need to have an established handicap (meaning having played at least 10 lifetime league matches) to play in the qualifying tournament AND they will need to have played 20 league matches in 9-Ball within the last 2 years by March, 2026. Ladies Team 8-Ball Qualifying Tournament on Feb 28th: Ladies will need to have played 20 league matches within the last 2 years by March, 2026 in order to participate. Click here for full tournament details and requirements.

8 & 9-Ball Singles Championship - In order to make it to Las Vegas as a singles player you must win a regional event for your skill level. In order to make it to the regional event held twice a year you must win a singles board. To be eligible to play in a singles board you must have an established handicap (meaning having played at least 10 lifetime league matches) and have at least 10 league matches within the last 2 years.
Non-Vegas APA Tournaments Requirements:
Summer Player Appreciation Tourney 8-Ball on Oct 25th: You’ve played at least 6 8-Ball matches during the summer session.
Summer Player Appreciation Tourney 9-Ball on Oct 26th: You’ve played at least 6 9-Ball matches during the summer session.
Skill 5 & Below Rumble 8-Ball on Nov 15th: You are a current Greater South Atlanta APA player and your 8-Ball skill level at the time of the tournament is a 5 or less.
Skill Level 6 & Up Melee on Nov 22nd: You are a current Greater South Atlanta APA player and your 8-Ball skill level at the time of the tournament is a 6 or higher.
Captain/Co-Captain 8-Ball Doubles Max 10 on Dec 6th: You are a current Captain or Co-Captain (listed first or second on the roster) in the Greater South Atlanta area. You can play with any other player that is a Captain or Co-Captain. You DO NOT have to be on the same team. But the combined handicap must be 10 or less.
Fall Player Appreciation Tourney 8-Ball on Feb 7th: You’ve played at least 6 8-Ball matches during the Fall session.
Fall Player Appreciation Tourney 9-Ball on Feb 8th: You’ve played at least 6 9-Ball matches during the summer session.
Captain/Co-Captain 9-Ball Doubles Max 10 on Mar 21st: You are a current Captain or Co-Captain (listed first or second on the roster) in the Greater South Atlanta area. You can play with any other player that is a Captain or Co-Captain. You DO NOT have to be on the same team. But the combined handicap must be 10 or less.
Lastly, just an important note on the Las Vegas Captain’s Championship coming up in June 2026: You must have been a captain for at least 2 sessions throughout the 2025-2026 APA league year in order to be eligible. There are other match requirements but that is the most important one.
