Rescheduling a Match - Rule of the Week

June 19, 2025 6:48 PM

by San Diego APA

Situation: I have requested a makeup match ahead of the necessary 24-hour notice to my opponent. They are telling me I have to let them know who will be playing the makeup match(es). Is this true?

Yes, when requesting 1-2 makeup matches the team needing the makeup must indicate who will be playing those matches.

The same requirement is true for Pre-Play matches.

Rule: Bylaws page 4-5 “Rescheduling Matches”: https://apa-by-laws.s3.amazonaws.com/prod/921_bylaws_2024.pdf

This section also covers:
  • When LO approval is required
  • When makeup matches are not allowed
  • What SL you have to play as at the time of the match
  • Host location protocol
  • Pre-play requirements

You can submit a "Rule of the Week" to the league office:

  • Email to sandiego@apaleagues.com.
  • Email Subject Line must read “SDAPA Rule of the Week”
  • Clearly state the rule/situation and if you know where the answer is found please provide those details.

Occasionally, lengthy matches make it logical to split a team match onto a second table, if a second table of the same size is available. If the fourth match has not started by two hours after the official League start time, teams should put up their next
Team Skill Level Limit (23 rule) - Rule of the Week
6/9/25 - 5:00 pm
Situation: We have only 4 players tonight for our 8-ball match, can we play 4 matches to 21 even though we don't have a 2 on our roster? No, A team playing less than a full match must show that it would not have exceeded the Team Skill Level Limit, if all the matches had been played. Teams that break the *23 rule will lose all points earned that night. Players matches will count towards their mat
