In The Event of an App Outage (Paper Scoresheets)

by San Diego APA

On 2/13 and on 3/10 the Scorekeeper and Member Services Apps experienced issues that resulted in some or all of the league night to be recorded on a paper scoresheet.

Technology can be great but with technology comes occasional hiccups. In the over 2 years we have enabled scorekeeper we fortunately have only seen a few of these across a league night. That said 2 instances have been within a short period of time.

As a result, we strongly encourage teams to bring blank scoresheets with them to league night. We also encourage that at least 2-3 players on a team have a blank scoresheet or two on them for these instances.

In the case where the apps are down the League Office will post on Facebook the rosters for that night. These rosters are searchable for team name/number or player name/number. You do not need a FB account to view the “San Diego APA Players” group or click on any link from our post. The documents are shared from Dropbox, but you do not have to download the Dropbox app and you do not need a Dropbox account to access these files.

When this occurs teams can email (sandiego@apaleagues.com) their partial (half paper/half app) or completed scoresheets to us the next day to enter. Teams can also enter any completed matches into the scorekeeper app when it becomes available but this is not a requirement. We do ask when sending paper that it is clear who played, innings, defensive shots and totals including overall total so we have the necessary data to compare with your opponent's scoresheet.

Ideally, these incidents are far and few between but, given technology can have its challenging moments, it's best to be prepared.

As always, we greatly appreciate your understanding and patience when these situations arise.
