Happy Thanksgiving Week! This Saturday, we will be hosting the first event as the new League Operators…the Annual Turkey Shoot! This event was not possible last year because of the pandemic shutdown, but this year we will continue the tradition and are expecting a big turnout, so make sure to check the registration times for your skill level tier and get to the Library on time! In addition to up to $1,000 CASH ADDED, we will draw random names for some APA SWAG!

For more info, visit the Turkey Shoot Page on our website or view/print the event flier here: https://sandiego.apaleagues.com/Uploads/sandiego/2021_fall/Turkey_Shoot_2021.pdf. Hope to see you there!

Local Singles Qualifier Boards

What’s all the hype with these singles boards?? It’s a way for individual players to win up to $15,000 with THE BEST ODDS IN VEGAS! The APA Singles Program has grown over the years, and they now have separate skill level (SL) tiered brackets for NINE CHAMPIONS! This means that there are less players to compete against, especially for the 8-ball lower SL bracket that only had 54 players from the whole country this past year…that’s a 1 in 54 chance at a $15,000 1st place prize! The other SL tiers only had about 200 players or less from all over the country compete, so players have a great chance to become a Poolplayer Champion, not only with luck, but with your skills on the pool table!

How do you get in on this action? STEP 1: win a local qualifier board (LQB). Use your MVP vouchers or pay about $20-40 to enter, and then win as few as 2 matches to advance to STEP 2: the Singles Regional. This level is tiered by SL and approximately 1 in every 16 players will advance to the Poolplayer Championships (PPC) with a FREE trip to Vegas!

SDAPA currently has six players who have won a commemorative prize and a trip to Vegas to compete in the 2022 PPC, and we will have many more players that will advance from the Spring Singles Regional in March 2022. We currently have over 70 players qualified for this regional, and we are planning to host the event right here in San Diego, where players will have home field advantage! If you’re not qualified yet, then get on it because the qualifying window closes on December 4th (normally the deadline is November 30th, but we got an extension!). If you’re looking for where you can play locally, visit the San Diego APA Players Facebook group or SDAPA Singles Qualifiers Events & Info Facebook group.

Weekly League Play

We are approaching the last two weeks of the Fall Session, and all make-up matches must be completed before then, otherwise points will not count for either team. Rosters can no longer be changed (without LO approval) at this point and players must have 4 session matches played (MP) to be eligible to play in playoffs. Players also need 6 MP by the end of the session in order to compete in the session-ending BLAST. The Fall BLAST, scheduled for Feb 5-6, 2022, is the next level of team competition to advance to SDAPA’s City Championships/World Qualifiers (This is the league’s year-end tournament that gets you to Vegas for world team championships!). In order to participate in a session-ending BLAST tournament, a team must win the division standings, win the session-ending Playoffs or be the highest finishing team in the division’s entire session-ending Playoffs that is not already qualified for the City Championship World Qualifiers.

Register your team for the 2022 Spring Session! In the yellow-highlighted Message Center at the bottom of your scoresheets, please mark whether or not your team is playing next session. The Spring session starts on Sunday, January 2, 2022, and this is the last session to qualify for APA’s World Pool Championships in Vegas!

View Scoresheet and Payment procedures on the “Submit Fees & Scoresheets” page of the website. The preferred format is PDF for submitting scoresheets, which can be created with a free scanner app that uses the camera on your smart phone. The preferred method for sending in payments is Zelle using sandiego@apaleagues.comemail address, however you may continue to use the “Pay League Fees” option from the APA app to pay by credit card using Stripe. If you’re using the app, and you’re wondering if you’ve paid your fees, you can view your payment history by pressing your initials on the top left and then selecting Payments > View Payment History.

We hope you have a great holiday week and hope to see you soon! Liza& Scot & Lindsay
