Well, we made it through our first week operating the San Diego APA… whew! We did have one little hiccup with the office phone transition but it’s fully operational now! We switched over to cellular service so you can still call or, if it’s more convenient for you, we can now communicate with you via text messaging. The SDAPA League Office phone number is (619) 303-0183.
The Fall Singles Regional tournaments were held on October 2-3 in Riverside, and we are proud to announce that San Diego APA players won 6 of the 9 boards that weekend! Big congratulations to the following winners who will advance to the 2022 Poolplayer Championships (PPC) in Las Vegas!
- CC Whitebread 8-Ball Classic Blue Tier (SL3)
- Laura Barreiro 8-Ball Classic Yellow Tier (SL4)
- Edward Arciniega 8-Ball Classic Purple Tier (SL7)
- CC Whitebread 9-Ball Shootout Green Tier (SL3)
- Brandon Haley 9-Ball Shootout White Tier (SL4)
- Paul Thitathan 9-Ball Shootout Gray Tier (SL6)
Each of these players will be competing in separate skill level tiers, and each tier has a first place prize of $10,000 for 9-Ball and & $15,000 for 8-Ball! If you want to get in on this action, we have a few tournament directors that will be running Local Qualifier Boards (LQBs), which is the first step to getting to the championships. We are currently in the second of two qualifying windows to advance to the 2022 PPC, so players have until November 30, 2021 to play on a LQB, which will get you into the Spring Regional in March 2022, where you’ll have approximately a 1 in 16 chance to win a your skill level tier and advance to Vegas! If you’re looking for where you can play locally, visit the San Diego APA Players Facebook group or SDAPA Singles Qualifiers Events & Info Facebook group for upcoming events. The Fall Issue of The American Poolplayer magazine is published each session and this release has results of the 2021 Poolplayer Championships held in August.
The World Pool Championships (WPC) will be underway this week in Las Vegas, with the 8-Ball Team Championships October 21-26, and the 9-Ball Team Championships October 25-30, 2022. Here are some reminders for these events:
- E-Registration: Almost all San Diego players have registered and certified their skill levels, and we have contacted captains who still need to reach out to their players to register on the APA app.
- WPC Preview of what to expect can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/IugmkbxRd64
- WPC Player Meeting for all attendees can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/IrWJdKnXPv0

- MiniMania Tournament Eligibility: Even if you’re not playing on one of the nine San Diego APA teams that are in the main events, players may play in mini-tournaments all week long! These are open to all current APA members with at least 20 scores in one format within the last four (4) years by October 15 in either 8 Ball or 9-Ball and guarantees 100% payback of each tournament’s entry fees. Entrants must bring a picture ID and their current APA membership card (which is digital on the APA app).
We have updated the Payment Options on the “Submit Fees & Scoresheets” page of the website. The preferred method for sending in payments is Zelle using sandiego@apaleagues.com email address, however you may continue to use the “Pay League Fees” option from the APA app to pay by credit card using Stripe.
Finally, we will be moving to San Diego County at the end of this week and will be setting up the new office and all the other things that come with moving, so we appreciate your continued patience through this transition.
