There is an increasing and unacceptable number of teams with past due balances. Many of those teams have team members claiming they have paid for their share of the weekly dues directly to the team captains and stating that those captains are keeping - also known as stealing - the money. This behavior will not be tolerated.
In the past, I have provided leniency for past due teams, but that leniency has been taken advantage of, so I am forced to revoke said leniency. Going forward, the past due procedures outlined in the local bylaws will be strictly followed.
If you are one of the captains that have been taking team fees from your team and not turning them in, restitution must be made within 2 weeks. If not, you will be facing suspension. As a gentle reminder, suspension from 1 APA area means suspension in ALL APA areas. Additionally, I will be making the plea to the multitude of host locations to consider denying patronage to members who have knowingly and wrongfully confiscated their teammates monies. Taking league dues from teammates and not turning them is theft. Going forward, it will be treated as such and I will pursue all legal avenues of retrieving stolen funds.
If your team is past due, please reach out to your captain as well as Karen or Natalie (if dues are being paid but not getting turned in) right away to avoid any consequences for your team - including ineligibility for playoffs, removal from league, being required to pay an equal share of past due balances before being allowed to rejoin AND only being allowed to rejoin if league dues are paid upfront. This matter is serious, please treat it as such. In addition to the envelopes being marked past due, each team member will be receiving a letter in the mail stating the balance owed and their portion of said balance.
