APA NEWSLETTER FOR THE WEEK OF AUG 24th2025

I want to welcome everyone back as well as all the new players. Just a few reminders, you will be keeping score on paper as well as the app, for the first 4 weeks. This means the home team will have to pick up envelopes and they will need to be dropped off before 7pm the following day. Anyone who plays must be a paid member. They can go to Join.poolplayers.com to register, pay their membership and claim their account. You can add players using score keeper before play starts. Make sure you pay for weekly play using the APA POOL LEAGUE APP. Just open the app click “menu”, then click “pay for matches”. Make sure you add the correct week to your cart before paying. You have until 11am the following day to pay, after score sheets are printed you will not be able to pay using the app. You will have to pay using venmo along with a $2 late fee. Also remember bonus points can be affected by score sheets, paying late, and late play. Make sure play is continuous, player selection and coaches don’t take too long. Notify me if you are doing a makeup match. During the first 4 weeks of play there are not team forfeits, but there are individual forfeits.

I have released the list of players invited to the FLYAWAY SPORTSMANSHIP INVITATIONAL (8 Ball) on the APP as well as facebook. Remember you must have 20 plays in the last 2 years, be on an active roster, and have a passport. You can take a picture of your passport and bring it to the tournament. If you don’t bring proof, you will not be allowed to play. To enter you must fill out an entry envelope (they are at the Rack) with your name and the tournament name and the $35 entry fee. Winners may have to pay a small fee, no more than $150 before the trip, depending on the total cost. Winner will win a trip to RIU Yucatan all-inclusive resort in Playa Del Carmen including airfare and transport (4 rooms double occupancy). Travels dates are 2/15/2026 to 2/20/2026. There are no changes or substitutions. I have received a lot of texts and calls about the change to the date of the event. The date was announced in the newsletter on 1/19/2025 and has been listed in every newsletter since then. The change in the date was made because the travel agent was having a hard time securing flights and rooms with only 8 week’s notice for a popular resort and destination. The change in the passport requirement happened because past winners of the tournament applied for passports and were denied weeks before the trip after it had been paid in full, for a loss of over $8000 in the last 3 years. Those people who didn’t go also eliminated players who could have possibly went. I have told everyone who would listen (and those who didn’t) to get their passport for next year’s event and now everyone is surprised when it is required. So you must have a passport, paperwork or proof of application will not work because it is not a guarantee that you will actually get one. I am sorry but I encourage you to get yours now so you will have it for next year.

JOKE OF THE WEEK

On the first day of college, the Dean addressed the students, pointing out some of the rules. "The female dormitory will be out-of-bounds for all male students, and the male dormitory to the female students. Anybody caught breaking this rule will be fined $20 the first time." He continued, "Anybody caught breaking this rule the second time will be fined $60. Being caught a third time will cost you a fine of $180. Are there any questions?" At this point, a male student in the crowd inquired: "How much for a season pass?"
