Two locations - split by skill level. Hard Times Billiards for SL 5+ and Jointed Cue for SL 4 and below. If you fit one category in 8-Ball and the other in 9-Ball, you're going to have to choose.

We'll be offering 8-Ball and 9-Ball at both locations as demand dictates. As with most singles qualifiers, do NOT expect it to be done in two hours. Singles qualifiers take time. The tournament director at each location will use their discretion re: allowing crossover play (people playing both 8 and 9-Ball) based on numerous factors including how many people show up and how the brackets fill up.

We're well aware that going full Leroy Jenkins on crossover play makes for a very long day and will most likely not allow or minimize it. I CANNOT predict how that will play out. It's sometimes the case the even if we don't allow full crossover, we might pick a person or two to help get the minimum for a bracket or something. Doors open and signups start at NOON at both locations.Signups CLOSE at 12:30 both locations. We do our best to stay strict with this, so don't give us attitude if we turn you away. We need to get the tournaments rolling... and last minute adds and bracket changes disrupt things more often than not.

If you are late and HAPPEN to fill a bye or enable us to do something to the benefit of everyone (like enable a new bracket so more people can qualify) you might get lucky, but don't expect it.

Most likely cost will be $40 for a double elimination bracket - two chances at qualifying. There are certain situations that might pop up that change the price, but it's best to count on $40.

You MUST be active on a Sacramento APA team in the current (Spring) Session in the same format to be eligible. You MUST have played at least 10 matches in the last two years to be eligible (again, same format).

This qualifier feeds the FALL Regional. If you're already qualified, please don't enter. We'll do our best to catch any/all of the above, but part of this is your responsibility too! It's VERY hectic in the first hour of a qualifier getting things figured out and rolling.

Good luck!

Respect the tables
2/23/26 - 10:44 pm
All: most if not all of our larger locations have rules concerning chalk. Please be aware of and respect these rules! If in doubt, use chalk supplied by the location. Usually, using chalk that matches the color of the cloth on that location's tables is acceptable. Often, a high quality caulk like Taom that does not transfer color to the cue and the cloth is OK - if in doubt, check with the house.

Good morning! This is going to be a long read, but please take the time to read it if you have any interest in what the APA calls the “Showdown Series” – 8-Ball Doubles, 9-Ball Doubles, Jack & Jill Doubles, Ladies Team, Masters and Team Captains Team. I’ve been hearing some comments from time to time that make me realize there are some misconceptions floating around, so hopefully I can address

Something disappointing happened at the Singles Qualifier yesterday that I thought I'd mention here to turn it into a learning lesson for whomever needs to hear it.I left a couple pieces of Taom chalk on a table next to my cues near Table #1. This chalk is distinctively labeled and shaped - it's cylinder shaped instead of the normal cube shaped chalk (typically Master) that is supplied at pool hal
