For those who don't follow the APA National Office on social media, there was an announcement last night concerning the 2020 World Pool Championships. The short summary is that our December-scheduled Championships have been postponed and are merging with the 2021 World Pool Championships next August.
What does that mean for us?
There will still be a separate World Pool Qualifier (city tournament) for all the teams who've qualified for the 2020 pool season. The tournament window, previously slated Aug-Oct, has been pushed back to sometime January-March. This means we will now have the time to plan and schedule tournaments to allow for a safe and responsible event, as well as provide time for teams to make arrangements to participate.
Our 2021 season will still continue, as long as state and health mandates allow our host locations to operate. Due to the time lost to Covid, we will begin our 2021 season in the Fall session, and teams will have two (2) sessions to qualify for the 2021 WPQ.
Final Standings, Wildcard drawings, and playoff match schedules will be posted later tonight via facebook live and updated on the members services page immediately following. Please like and follow DeWitt And McLean APA to tune into the live drawing, and check back on members services for the match information.
