Shot Watch Procedures
1. Players Must Request a Shot Watch
In higher-level tournaments, if there is a potential dispute situation (e.g., a possible double-hit or other questionable hit), the shooter or their opponent must verbally request a Shot Watch before the shot is taken.
2. Who May Officiate the Shot
A neutral third party—such as a team captain, referee, or other designated individual—will be called to observe the shot. That individual will make the ruling of fair or foul immediately following the shot. Their decision is final.
3. Purpose of the Rule
The Shot Watch procedure ensures that matches continue in a fair, calm, and orderly manner. It prevents unnecessary disputes and keeps the focus on playing the game.
4. Failure to Request a Shot Watch
If a questionable shot occurs and no Shot Watch was requested in advance, any resulting disagreement defaults in favor of the shooter. There is no replay of the shot, no debate, and no reversal. The match proceeds from the outcome of the shot as it stands.
Important Note:
It is the responsibility of the players at the table—not teammates or spectators—to request a Shot Watch prior to execution of the shot.
