2026 Spring Regionals Tournament Guidelines

March 6, 2026 8:15 PM

by Southern Tier & Upstate NY APA

We wanted to once again congratulate all the members who have qualified for our upcoming 2026 Spring Regionals. As previously stated, this is one of the largest regional fields we’ve had since 2020 due to the increased participation in the single board & mvp programs run in each league area.  This is simply amazing!  With the increased field size, we thought it would be best to stagger some of the tier group start times. We were hopeful this stagger would limit the amount of lag time between matches to try to help ensure a more enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, I was not able to tweak the Sunday brackets enough to prevent such lag times in the Black Tier.  So I wanted to apologize to the participants in that tier group in advance. However, as we progress through Sunday’s rounds, if we gain time allowing me to adjust the schedule in any way I most certainly will do so.

The staggered tier times are as follows

Saturday - March 7th

- Orange & Purple tiers start play first.

- Yellow tier: arrive by 12:00 PM

- Blue tier: arrive by 3:00 PM

- Red tier: arrive by 4:00 PM

Sunday - March 8th

- Gray & Green tiers start play first.

- Black tier: arrive by 1200 PM

- White tier: arrive by 4:00 PM

- Doors at Brick House open Saturday and Sunday at 8:00 AM for check-in and registration (for those who did not certify online).

- Brief player meeting each day at 8:45 AM; first-round play will begin immediately after the meeting.

Participants who have the later start times are not required to attend the morning player meeting and can check in when they arrive. Participants who do decide to forgo the morning player meeting are still required to adhere to the Single Tournament rules and guidelines as outlined during the player meeting. To help ensure everyone is aware of the rules and polices being enforced during the 2026 Spring Singles Regionals at Brick House Billiards, I’ve listed the tournament guidelines and house rules below as well as attached the Single Regional Tournament Rules Link. Following these polices and guidelines will help us keep pace of play and hopefully run a efficient event and stay on schedule. We will need every member participating in this event this weekend to do their part to help make that happen. Thank You and we look forward to seeing you all this weekend.

o Any participant caught bringing in outside food or beverage will be kindly asked to return said items back to their vehicles,

o Any participant caught brining in any outside alcohol will be asked to leave the premises and will be dismissed from the tournament.

· We ask that participants use blue chalk only. There will be blue chalk on each tournament table and we will also have extra chalk available at the control table.

· We kindly ask that when participants have completed their matches, win or lose to please thoroughly clean the area of food and beverages so that when the next matches are called the participants can immediately start their matches.

o We also realize accidents happen so please -Notify the staff of any accidental spills as they happen so they can get it cleaned up right away.

· Please do not smoke by the front entrance of Brick House Billiards

· Lastly, please be kind & courteous to both the staff members and refs during this event.

Tournament Guidelines & Information.

· This is a Modified Single Elimination Event.

o Barring a forfeit, participants are guaranteed to play two matches not necessarily two loses. Once participants reach a specific spot on the board a loss will eliminate them from the tournament even if it is their first loss.

§ Please double check with the control table if you are unsure if you are eliminated from the event prior to leaving the tournament site.

· This is event is a seeded event

o Brackets were set by the National office with some tiers slightly modified due to being notified of some participants who could not attend this years event.

o Brackets were set based on skill levels at the time of the draw and will not be redrawn based off current skill levels.

· This is a live tournament

o Skill levels may move up or down during the event. It is your job as a participant to look over the scoresheet each and every round. If you feel something may be off, you are welcome to bring the scoresheet to the control table for review prior to the match starting. Once the match has started, no review can be done at that time.

· We are using paper scoresheets.

o Unfortunately, the tournament software is still not available for this event. Participants will be required to keep score on paper. Participants will need to take turns keeping score to help ensure accurate scorekeeping is being done.

o The Scoresheet will be underneath the top CompuSport Sheet on the clip board.

o If you are unfamiliar with a paper scoresheet, please take the time to review the scorekeeping tutorial that was included with your registration email. You can also check out the scorekeeping videos on poolplayers.com.

o As soon as you realize or feel there is a scoring discrepancy that cannot get worked out with your opponent, please notify a referee right away so that they can assist you.

· We do not allow participants to wear any kind of smart watches, fitbits or blue tooth devices unless they are for medical purposes confirmed by the Tournament Director.

· 8 BALL ONLY- Please remember to mark your pocket clearly especially, if using regular playing chalk, which we do not recommend.

o CELL PHONES CANNOT BE USED TO MARK POCKETS DURING PLAY.

· Referee

o We will have a referee stationed in a chair right next to table 16 close to the bar. If you should need a referee for a watched hit or dispute, please just raise your cue stick to get their attention. If for some reason the referee does not notice you right away, please do not scream across the room to get their attention.

· We are using CompuSport for this event for match/table assignments and scheduling purposes.

o When a participant is notified of a table assignment, they should report to the table assigned and a referee will bring the scoresheet to the table.

o Once both participants are present and the scoresheet available, the match should immediately begin. Please do not wait for the posted time on CompuSport to begin the match. We are going to try our best to run an efficient tournament to hopefully gain some time so that we can move up our last finals match. We will need everyone’s help to try and achieve this goal.

· If you are present at the assigned table along with the scoresheet but your opponent has not yet arrived after a few minutes please notify a referee ASAP so that we can place them on their 15 minute grace as we try and locate them.

· Timing Rules

o Once a skill level tier begins, players should be ready to shoot at least 30 minutes before their posted CompuSport start time, in case we run ahead and matches print early.

o If your match is called and you are not present, you will receive a 15-minute grace period from the time listed on the CompuSport sheet. Failure to adhere to the 30-minute ready policy may result in forfeiture of the match. So we are asking everyone's cooperation adhering to the time guidelines to help ensure this does not occur.

· Turning In Scoresheets/CompuSport Sheet

o Once your match is completed, the winning participant must make sure ALL the innings are tallied and written in the inning box along with the total matches won and lost by both participants.

§ Please also include the score on the top CompuSport sheet in the correct boxes under the participants names.

o Both participants need to sign the official scoresheet –

o The winning participant needs to clearly circle themselves on the CompuSport Sheet as well as the scoresheet.

o The winning participant will then bring up the Clipboard with the scoresheet and CompuSport sheet to the control table for review and scan.
