Congratulations 9 Ball World Qualifier Champions!
We wanted to congratulate our 2023 Southern Tier 9 Ball World Qualifiers Tournament Champions. On our featured streaming table, we had Rackless Makes Perfect vs We Are Only 3’s. Both teams were Spring Session Division Champions so we knew both teams were coming into this finals hot and shooting well. However, Rackless Makes Perfect came out on fire with all the rolls seeming to go in their team’s direction as well and simply were not going to be denied in this year’s event. This was Rackless Makes Perfect 3rd straight finals appearance. After falling short in last year’s finals, RMP was able to claim the 9 Ball title with a full team effort and will be headed to Las Vegas this coming August. We Are Only 3’s should be proud of the run they achieved in this year’s event. This was their first ever appearance in a WQ final with quite a few new members who have been playing in the APA for less than a year so this was an amazing accomplishment, and we are confident they will see the finals again.
In our other finals match we had the Butchers vs Thunderdome. This finals match turned out to be just as exciting and a nailbiter as our UpState match between Rackless & Blazing Saddles. We were able to tune in and zoom in on the match as both teams approached match 5. What made this match so intriguing was the fact that we had two 2’s battling it out for their team to see which team would go to Vegas. This match did not disappoint and was one of the closest if not the closest 9 Ball WQ we have ever had. The match literally came down to who made the last ball with both Mikaela & Sabine both needing just 2 points to help claim the 2023 crown for their team. After Mikaela made a great shot on the 6 ball, the cue ball unfortunately scratched in the side pocket setting up a ball in hand situation for Sabine. After a couple deep breaths Sabine calmly sank the 7 ball & 9 Ball to send her team to this years 2023 WPC in Vegas. To see a 9 Ball World Qualifiers come down to whoever made the very last ball on the table to claim this year’s title was simply amazing to watch. Although Sabine Detterbeck made the shot to send her team to Vegas, Mikaela Smith should be proud of how well she shot. Being the fact these young ladies were both 2’s battling it out, the poise they both showed under pressure was simply breathtaking to watch.
