Team Captain Qualifier Tournament

When: Saturday May 17th, 2025

Time:

9:00 AM Registration Opens

9:30 AM Play Begins (All day event)

Where: LADY T'S (Aurora)

Entry Fee: is based on the number of teams.

$300 per team (with 14 teams)

$255 per team (with 16 teams)

$225 per team (with 18+ teams)

To Sign Up: Comment on the event flyer your Captains Team Qualifier team name, all players on the roster, and the handicap that they must play this tournament as (see below). Entry fees will be collected at the event. Link to the sign up flyer of the event: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1FtyBR8kac/

If your roster changes or your team name changes, DO NOT TEXT/MESSAGE THE LEAGUE OFFICE. You just need to edit your sign up comment! Just before the event I will be going through the comments to build the teams into the event so whatever you changed it to by Friday May 16th will be what we pull.

Format: Double Elimination (Until two teams remain)

Prize: Winning 2 teams win entry and travel assistance to the APA World Pool Championships in Las Vegas this August 2025. The 3rd place team will receive entry and travel assistance to St. Jude Shoot For a Cure in Tunica, MS. (Depending on number of teams - 4th place will receive a prize)

Team Size: 3-5 players (3 play each round)

Keep in mind that prizes are the same regardless of the number of players on a team. A team with 3 players would cost more in qualifier entry fee but would be a bigger prize if you win. A 5 player team would cost less to enter the qualifier but would also have less travel assistance per player available. Your choice!

How to Find Other Captains:

Feel free to use the comment section of this post to find a team or players. Or to find other qualified captains: go to your APA app, go to "Divisions" -> "Rosters", top player listed on each team is the Captain, click their name and on their player profile select the "Teams" tab where it will show you what sessions they have been captain.

Handicap:

  • Total max handicap of 15 each round
  • A player's highest skill level between formats (8-Ball & 9-Ball) must be used towards the 15-rule.
  • 9-Ball skill levels 8 and 9 play as skill level 7 in this event.
  • Only one player of skill level 6 or higher (senior skill level player) may play in any given match per team.
  • Players may only play on one team in this tournament.
  • Teams playing a roster of handicaps 12 or less in a round will get games spot.
  • At the qualifier you will play as the handicap you are at the time of the event and handicaps can still change each week prior to the event. Have a back up plan.

There is not a modified race at the National event to accommodate teams that have players move up before August to go over 15 handicap. It could be beneficial to account for this by having on your roster an extra lower handicap player to be safe. Your call!

Who Can Play?

  • All Team Captains who meet the following requirements are eligible. Teams are responsible for making sure their own players meet the qualifications prior to the event.
  • Players MUST be active West Suburban Chicago APA players at the time of the event and playing Spring Session 2025.
  • Players MUST have at least 20 8-Ball scores or 20 9-Ball scores within the last 2 years by the date of the event. A combination of plays between the two formats is not allowed.
  • Co-Captains do not qualify for this event.
  • Players MUST have completed two SEPARATE sessions as a Team Captain of a standard 8-Ball or 9-Ball team from Summer 2024 - Spring 2025 in the West Suburban Chicago APA.
  • Masters Division is not a standard format and does not count.
  • Ladies Division does qualify as a standard format division and does count as captaining a team for Spring Session 2025 only because that is when it ended.
  • Any captain who is using Spring 2025 Session as one of their qualifying sessions MUST already be listed as the captain of their team and MUST remain captain of that team all session or they WILL lose their spot in the qualifier tournament and/or their entry into the World Pool Championships in Las Vegas.

Thank you to every APA Team Captain for all that you do for your players and for the West Suburban Chicago APA.

We appreciate you!
