What are APA Singles Qualifier Tournaments?

APA Singles Qualifier boards are 8 player tournaments where the winners win an invite to the APA Singles Regional event located in the Chicagoland area this October (or in Spring 2024 if qualified after June 15). Players compete verse players of the same skill level at regionals and the winner of each handicapped board advances to the APA Singles Championships in Las Vegas. The team event is not the only way to play your way to Las Vegas! Everyone can play, anyone can win!

Will I play people of the same handicap as me?

At the APA Singles Regional Tournament and in Las Vegas at the National APA Singles event, yes.

For local Qualifying Tournaments it depends. When a tournament director says "open board" they are referring to an 8 player tournament open to ANY handicap. However often tournament directors will try to pair players with similar handicaps and sometimes will take pre sign-ups to ensure that you only play players of the same handicap. Often it is a matter of how many players of each handicap are interested. Some qualifying tournaments will be one way while another tournament date can be different so check each individual event.

Am I qualified to play a Qualifier Tournament?

Players must have a minimum of 10 APA matches within the past 2 years in the format (8-Ball/9-Ball) that they wish to play. All entrants must be current APA members and must be listed on the roster of an active Fall Session APA team in the format they wish to play. Players who play in multiple areas will play at their highest handicap.
