We encounter many questions about what roster is eligible for each Tri-Annual and the World Qualifier. Here is a quick guide, hope it helps.

For 8-Ball and 9-Ball teams:

  • 1st Session of the APA Year is Summer

Summer Tri-Annual is played with your Summer roster. 

Summer Tri-Annual is played after the Fall session starts, your Fall roster could be different from your Summer roster. Only Summer roster players are eligible to play in Summer Tri-Annual. 

If your team wins Summer Tri-Annual you must stay active and retain at least 4 members of your Summer roster throughout Fall and Spring to stay eligible for the World Qualifier.

  • 2nd Session of the APA Year is Fall

Fall Tri-Annual is played with your Fall roster. 

Fall Tri-Annual is played after the Spring session starts, your Spring roster could be different from your Fall roster. Only Fall roster players are eligible to play in Fall Tri-Annual. 

***Be careful changing your Fall roster going into Spring. Spring rosters are locked after the 4th week for qualified teams. If your team wins Fall Tri-Annual....guess what.....you just became a qualified team and your roster is locked.*** Players that left the team for Spring cannot come back to the team and play in Spring Tri-Annual or the World Qualifier. 

If your team wins Fall Tri-Annual you must stay active and retain at least 4 members of your Fall roster throughout Spring to stay eligible for the World Qualifier.

  • 3rd Session of the APA Year is Spring

Spring Tri-Annual is played with your Spring roster. 

Spring Tri-Annual is played after the Summer session starts, your Summer roster could be different from your Spring roster. Only Spring roster players are eligible to play in Spring Tri-Annual. 

If your team wins Spring Tri-Annual you must stay active on a team in the corresponding format to stay eligible for the World Qualifier. 

  • BEST OF THE REST TOURNAMENT

This tournament immediately follows the Spring Tri-Annual. If your team lost in the finals of the Summer, Fall or Spring Tri-Annual you are eligible to play in this tournament with your SPRING roster. 

  • WORLD QUALIFIER

The World Qualifier is played with your Spring roster no matter what session you won in. You must have maintained 4 players from the winning roster to stay eligible. 

RESCHEDULED AND MAKEUP MATCH POLICY
5/16/25 - 3:50 pm
Rescheduled and make up matches MUST be played and submitted to the SDAPA office within 14 days of the original scheduled match date. If a full team cannot be fielded it is our suggestion that available players show up on the original match date and play a partial match. It will be easier to complete a match that needs a game or two rather than a full match and trying to do it at the same time you
