Rule of the Week - Using A Different Rack

January 10, 2025 12:42 AM

by San Diego APA

Situation: We are the visiting team and the home team wants to use a magic rack, is this allowed?

Per the bylaws, Unless the Host Location management designates a specific table for league play, the Home team picks which table and cue ball to use.

This rule does not state the home team gets to pick the rack or object balls. The house rack and house object balls provided by the host location should be used. We do allow if both captains agree that a magic rack (or similar) can be used. However if both captains don't agree then the house rack that is available to all players must be used. If a location provides magic racks (or similar) to ALL customers then this would be considered a house rack.
