Broomstick Chip Tournament 10.26.25

October 8, 2025 6:05 PM

by NW Dallas County APA

Come join the fun at Wizard's Sunday afternoon, October 26, 2025! We're having a Scotch Doubles Tournament in full Halloween Spirit!

Entry fee is $60 per TEAM ($30 per player). NW Dallas County APA will add money to the total payout of 100% entry fees.

Here's the fun part:

  • Players will be shooting with Broomsticks (provided) NOT pool cues!
  • It's a high-skill cap of 12, the only combo not allowed is 6-6 (no 2 senior skills on same team). Players use the higher of their 8 or 9 ball skill level, with 7 being the highest you'll use to calculate your team's SL. A 6 in 8B and 7 in 9B will play as a 7, and a 7/9 will play also as a 7.
  • Skill Combos less than 10 will receive 5 chips, those 10 and over will receive 4 chips
  • The formats are Standard 9-ball (drop the 9 to win) and SHORT 8-ball. A "Short 8B" is racked with 4 solids, 4 stripes, and the 8 ball in the center of the same diamond pattern as a 9-ball rack, played with all other standard APA 8-ball rules. It just helps it go a little faster, since you're shooting with a broomstick!
  • No lag, flip to choose if your team wants the break, or the choice of format.
  • Now play, best of 3 racks (a race to 2). Winners break next rack in Scotch Doubles order.
  • The winning team stays at their table, the losing team brings a chip back up to the control desk to be assigned to a new opponent. Once your team is out of chips, they are out of the tournament.
  • When approximately one third of the field remain, the payouts will commence, with last payout place = to the entry fee ($60/team).
  • Total payout will depend on the number of entries, max 24 teams.
  • An EXAMPLE of 24 teams would pay out as follows:
    • 1st = $600
    • 2nd = $400
    • 3rd = $300
    • 4th = $250
    • 5th = $200
    • 6th = $150
    • 7th = $100
    • 8th = $60

There will also be prizes for costumes!!!! So dress to impress! Bonus if your costume is a duo of some sort. Like Mario and Luigi, Batman and Robin, Peanut Butter and Jelly, Frankenstein and the Bride of Frankenstein,,,,, You get the idea.

Text the League Office 214-281-6650 with your Team Name, Player Names, and ZELLE your entry fee to 214-281-6650.

I'll post the current list periodically. We expect this one to sell out, so don't delay, sign up TODAY!!!!!
