Hey, Jacksonville APA 👋

Fall Session is well underway, and we wanted to take a minute to check in because we looked at the calendar and had one of those “Oh my goodness, there is so much coming up” moments.

First off, the last few weeks have already given us a lot to be proud of this season. Jacksonville showed up strong at the Southeast Challenge, U.S. Amateur Preliminary, and Singles Regionals, and it’s been exciting to watch. We now have players headed to Las Vegas for both the U.S. Amateur Championship and APA Poolplayer Championships, while the Southeast Challenge brought multiple impressive top-tier finishes—capped off with a major regional title. And now we’re heading into one of our favorite stretches of the year! There’s something about fall and the holidays that makes League feel like a little more than just matches on a scoresheet. There are more reasons to get together, more opportunities to celebrate each other, and a lot of fun ways to spend time with the people we’ve gotten to know on League night.

In just a couple of weeks, we host our first-ever Shoot for a Cure. And wow, it’s coming up fast. This tournament supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Whether you’re planning to play or just coming out to support the cause, we’d love to have you be part of it. We’ll share easy ways to get involved and show your support very soon.

From there we'll roll right into Halloween week, bringing an excuse to have a little extra fun on League night! We’ll be running a costume contest throughout the week, so start thinking ahead.

Then, in November, we continue an annual tradition we’re proud of with our Veterans Day Singles Boards. We’ll have two dates to come out, play, and take a moment to recognize the veterans in our community. As always, we’re honored to offer a free Singles Board to veterans active in Jacksonville APA.

November brings another opportunity to connect with Friendsgiving, a chance to bring a little bit of your family to your APA family. Bring a favorite holiday dish—whether it’s something your family makes every year, a personal favorite, or simply something you think everyone needs to try—and spend the day with us around the pool table. We’ll have Singles Boards running throughout the day, including our First-Time Boards for newer members who’ve reached their first 10 matches and are ready to give tournament play a try. We think it’ll be a really fun day of community, competition, and good company.

Then we’ll take a quick Thanksgiving break, come back for Fall Playoffs, and before we know it, we’ll be kicking off the Spring Session.

There’s also still one more Vegas opportunity on the calendar before the year is over! Start thinking about who you want standing beside you at the table, because the 8-Ball Doubles Vegas Qualifier is December 5.

Finally, we’ll round out the year together with our annual Holiday Party. We have some bigger plans for it this year, and we’re really excited about creating a night where we can get out of League-night mode for a little while, celebrate the season, recognize some deserving people, give away some fun stuff, and simply enjoy being together.

For now, consider this your save-the-date warning more than the full announcement for each event. There is a lot coming, we’re working on a lot behind the scenes, and much more information will be headed your way very soon. We just don’t want you to see something days beforehand and say, “I wish I had known about that!”

We’re also working this week on making sure our Jacksonville APA Google Calendar is fully populated with everything ahead—all the way through 2027 😱—so you’ll have one easy place to keep up with dates as details are finalized. We really do love this time of year with our League. Pool may be what brings everybody into the room, but the community that has grown around it is the part that makes days like these worth putting together.
