Past
Whoa, what a weekend it was! We had an amazing turnout for the Summer MVP Tournament on Saturday with 125 players coming out to play! That’s the largest MVP tournament we’ve hosted by a landslide. Thank you to all the players that participated and for the sportsmanship shown throughout the event.
At the end of it all, 11 MVP winners were crowned with one more TBD. Each winner left with their share of over $2500 in cash payouts, a ticket to Regionals to advance to the APA Poolplayer Championships in Las Vegas, and a chance to return for the 2025 Jacksonville Invitational with all the semi-finalists to play for a Cuetec cue and even more cash. Congratulations to all the winners!

We strive to provide the best player experience we can at all of our APA events, but this awesome turnout brought challenges to our anticipated match schedule and start times (#goodproblems). To anyone who waited longer than usual or played a late-night match, thank you for your patience and understanding, and keep reading to hear of future changes to the MVP Tournament to make sure we can support increased participation while continuing to set the bar high.
Present
MVP in the current Fall 2024 session is a bit complicated. The MVP standings on the APA Pool League app are not accurate for most divisions impacted by the 9 Ball Heaven closure this session.
The standings in the app only reflect matches played in the current division, since moving from 9 Ball Heaven. For example, if someone played 3 matches at 9 Ball Heaven and has since played 6 matches at the new location, the app would show them in the standings based on only the 6 matches played in the new division and would ignore the 3 matches played previously. We do not have a way to display the correct standings on the Pool League app and have hidden the incorrect standings for these divisions to avoid confusion.
The matches played and match points earned in the previous division still exist in our system, however. We will be posting a PDF of the Fall 2024 MVP standings on Monday afternoons, after all the previous week’s scores have been entered. We know this is not ideal, but thankfully, it’s only for the rest of this session.

Future
Looking ahead, we’re excited to plan for bigger and better! We believe MVP offers more opportunity for players than just about anything else we offer in the Jacksonville APA and we’re thrilled to see players recognizing that and taking advantage of all the program offers. This past MVP showed that we have outgrown the start times of sessions’ past and it’s time for change. We’re actively brainstorming what that change looks like and will be communicating that with the release of the final MVP standings this session. The same suite of prizes will still be there, but with a start time makeover and maybe a few other enhancements.

Congrats Jacksonville Finalists
