GMAPA Spring 2025 League Night Expectations

January 25, 2025 7:14 PM

by Green Mountain APA

Concerning the double up rule:

**Teams may double ONE player if needed. The double up, or ghost rule, may be used as often as a team needs (weekly).

**The double-up must happen last.If a team is short on players, the match will continue doubling the available players that will keep the team under 23. If a make-up match is still needed, it will be played at a later date. Please see the double up procedure in your GMAPA bylaws.

**Players available for the double up may not leave until the double up player(s) has been declared. You risk forfeiting. Full team and greens fees are always due regardless of forfeit.

As a courtesy, I suggest letting the opposing team know you need to double as soon as possible and the opposing team choosing the double up player so people can leave. Just my suggestion.

Things that have not changed, but here are reminders:

To be a Captain you must agree to the following:

~ Have a cell phone. ~ Have the APA app installed with notifications turned on. ~ Respond to texts and calls from the LO and other Captains in a timely manner. ~ Agree that you are responsible for the team. (Communications and their actions.)

**The mindset surrounding team fees:

When a team joins APA they are assigned their share of the dues for that session.

The team fee is split up weekly.

The team fee is then split up nightly by teams. The team fee is what the TEAM owes for participating in League. PLEASE STOP MAKING INDIVIDUAL PLAYERS PAY TWICE AS MUCH BECAUSE THEY DOUBLE. The team fee should be split evenly by the team.

Teams should be avoiding the double up rule anyway. It is only there to help with forfeits. Captains should be communicating that the team will need to double and players should be prepared to adjust their part of the team fee. This includes greens fees where applicable.

**No Makeups will be allowed the last two weeks of play.

**No doubling up the last week of play!

**Any match postponement, re-schedule, or make-up must be approved by the League Operator FIRST. If you do not contact the League Operator for approval, matches will be forfeited, full team fees are due. Both Captains need to contact the League Office.

**After the match starts, teams are to have their next player declared before the previous match ends. This is to help minimize the time between matches. It is ONE MINUTE for each team to declare their next player. The match is to start immediately after the second player is declared. See page #25, Forfeits, in your OTM.

You are expected to follow all speed of play guidelines.

**Any changes to the rules and expectations will be made here and announced verbally (in person).

These are the expectations if you agree to play League. If you join APA, you are agreeing to those rules. Please do not join the APA and complain about rules. It takes the fun out of for everyone.

When we lose, we will not belittle our opponent. There is no need to make yourself feel better by making them feel bad for beating you or your team mate. If you lost, you lost. Shake hands, say good game, and move on.

No player should ever be giving any host location a hard time about what they want or expect from us.

** Bonus points. These points are not automatically awarded to teams. Bonus points are given to reward teams for completing tasks, such as paperwork and emails, to ensure the correct data is entered into the system. This is to ensure players receive the credit and awards for playing AND to help ensure that sandbagging does not occur. As stated in the message center of your scoresheet, "If I have to go looking for the information, it defeats the purpose." See your GMAPA Bylaws for the details and expectations. This is especially important for when I'm out of town and do not have a physical scoresheet.

PLEASE LEAVE YOUR DRAMA AT THE DOOR. Creating drama and “pot stirring” will not be allowed!

READ YOUR GREEN MOUNTAIN APA BYLAWS AND THE APA OFFICIAL TEAM MANUAL (OTM).

The schedule for your division is posted on your APA app.

To be a Captain you must agree to the following:

~ Have a cell phone. ~ Have the APA app installed with notifications turned on. ~ Respond to texts and calls from the LO and other Captains in a timely manner. ~ Agree that you are responsible for the team. (Communications and their actions.)

League will start on TBD. There will be a meeting before league starts for those who missed the original mandatory meeting.

NO PLAYER MAY PARTICIPATE IN MASTERS LEAGUE WITHOUT FIRST MEETING WITH TERAH.

No free play before league. If you’d like to rent a table for practice, that’s fine. You are not allowed to rent a table for a match.

Habitual slow play will not be tolerated. Speed of play applies to Masters as well as regular league. Speed of play guidelines can be found in your OTM on page #8.

Play will be held on Wednesdays. Plan on it! No rescheduling. Because of the issues from previous sessions, the following expectations have been put in place:

· Any match that will need to be rescheduled or made up will need to be approved beforehand, by Terah. There are no exceptions.

· Be prepared to forfeit if a match cannot be played. There will need to be a very good reason for postponement.

· Wednesdays are the designated league night. Players must decide whether to participate or not. Teams that need to drop after the session starts will need to follow the procedure on page #27 of your OTM.

· Matches and greens fees will be paid in full on the night of your scheduled match, regardless of if the match is completed. This means that teams will need to arrange getting greens and team fees from teammates to repay those that paid. --> There are no exceptions to this. Any unpaid match will be forfeited. Match fees will still need to be paid.

· Make-up matches should be planned Monday.

· Make-up matches can be played on Wednesdays with the following conditions; --> Scott has agreed to allow the use of 1 table, if it is not being used (busy time of year), for make-up matches on Wednesdays if the arrangements are made at least 24 hours ahead. It is first come; first serve. It will be at the discretion of the host location for this to happen. There will be no arguments.

You will be respectful to each other and the other division playing. See page #6 of your OTM on ETIQUETTE.

You will be respectful of the host location. See page #7 of your OTM on ETIQUETTE. If you give attitude to the Host Location, you will be suspended for no less than 2 weeks. If it happens again, you will not play.

VERY IMPORTANT - If you are playing in both Wednesday divisions, matches will not be held for you. If you are stuck in a Masters match, your 8-Ball team will need to put up another player, in your place, in that match.

If you are stuck in an 8-Ball match, your Masters team will need to put up another player, in your place, in that match. If I find that teams are being pressured into waiting or rescheduling because “It’s the nice thing to do,” both of your teams will not receive their bonus points, your Masters and your 8-Ball team, and run the risk of suspension.

If I find that teams are being pressured into waiting or rescheduling because “It’s the nice thing to do,” when it doesn’t involve the other 8-Ball division, the offending Masters Captain will be suspended for no less than 2 weeks and matches for the offending team will be forfeited. Full team and greens fees are still due.

** IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY PARTICIPATING IN MASTERS, YOU HAVE BEEN TO THE MANDATORY MEETINGS, AGREED TO THE RULES AND EXPECTATIONS, AND KNOW WHERE TO FIND THE EXPECTATIONS. "I DIDN'T KNOW" OR "I DON'T NOW" ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE REASONS TO NOT FOLLOW THROUGH WITH YOUR AGREEMENT TO FOLLOW THESE RULES AND EXPECTATIONS.

COVID-19 / ILLNESS IN GENERAL

If you are feeling under the weather, experiencing a scratchy throat, coughing, runny nose, fever, upset stomach, or allergies, please do not attend League. I suggest you take a COVID test.

If you tested positive for COVID, please do not attend League!

If you attended League, or a League function within a few days of testing positive, I ask that you notify me as soon as possible so that I can notify the necessary people. If you choose, you can notify your team/people to let them know. If you do not feel comfortable doing that, I will notify them. I DO NOT give out people’s names when I contact teams and players so, please don’t ask.

Additionally, if you share the same living space with someone, dating someone, or have continuous close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID, but you are negative, please wear a mask if you wish to attend League.

This may be different than your work policy. This is what we will follow for League.

I get that you really want to play in “that tournament” or league night is your night out. But I need to emphasize that the health and wellbeing of everyone in the GMAPA is more important than you participating in “that tournament” or making League

I do realize that sometimes we do not know we are sick until after we’ve been to League. That is different than showing up knowing you are sick.

I trust that all players are being honest.

I would also like to add that this doesn't just apply to COVID. If you are sick, please stay home.

If you have any questions of concerns about how GMAPA deals with COVID, please ask me.

I'm proud of all of you for doing what you have been asked to do!!
