Please read this email in it's entirety as there are links for both a HOW TO for the APP download and install as well as a link for the Facebook Demonstration which was recorded.
For those that were able to attend today, the APA National Office did a QUICK demonstration of the new Electronic Scorekeeping App via a Facebook Live Stream. This was recorded and we will include a link below for you to watch.
The scoring app is currently being tested in several markets and the Charlotte Metro is NOT one of these. As you will hear in the Facebook demo, they still have a few months of testing in various markets then they will begin to roll out the application in a controlled release and we have not been informed as to when we will fall into that release.
With everything shutdown and postponed due to the Corona Virus, the National Office has opened up a DEMO version for everyone to go and play with and try and get a feel for. The Facebook demo was only about 20 mins of actual walking through the app but I think the majority of you will get a feel for the app and what it will do. We anticipate questions and I want everyone to submit those questions to me at GFrye@APALeagues.com and we will work on answers and create a FAQ document that hopefully will help others as we look to roll this out.
Please follow the attached document to download the app from either Apple store or Google play. My suggestion is to download the app first, ensure you can log on, then watch the Facebook demo so you can actually follow along on your on smart device.
A few quick points that I would like to make.
- This is a demo version so please play around as much as you can and don't worry as you are not playing with live data.
- This demo will only be available while we are postponed due to the Coronavirus. As soon as the first market is back up and running, the demo will go away as they will be back dealing with live data.
- You will only have access to matches already played. If you are on both an 8 and a 9 ball team you will be able to view both. If you are only on an 8 ball team you can only view the 8 ball version and same for 9 ball.
- If you have a table at home, or access to a table, I'd suggest actually playing a demo match and scoring it and seeing how it flows.
- As you walk through the demo, and you come across questions, please document those and as mentioned above, please submit to GFrye@APALeagues.com and we will work to get you answers.

We'll be working with the National Office as well as other APA Leagues as we move forward and continue to update everyone and create a more documented process. One thing to remember is even once the online scoring app is available to the Charlotte Metro market, we will still be utilizing paper scoresheets until we are 100% certain every team is able to score online and that all the bugs are worked out so please know we are going to step through this together but I think you will view the app as a positive step forward and I look forward to your feedback.
