Important Updates to the Local Qualifier Board Program
We are writing to inform you that, effective January 1, 2025, the price of a Local Qualifier Board (LQB) will increase from $160 to $200 for all APA/CPA League areas. For an 8-person board, the average cost per player will rise by $5, increasing from $20 to $25 per player.
This necessary adjustment marks the first increase in over a decade and is essential to address rising operational costs while sustaining the program’s quality and benefits. This change ensures the long-term success and sustainability of the program.
Why This Change Is Necessary
The additional funds will allow us to make key investments in:
- Expanding Tournament Opportunities: Adding more Regional Qualifier locations and increasing the Poolplayer Championships footprint in Las Vegas, giving more players opportunities to compete.
- Enhancing Technology: Upgrading systems to streamline operations and improve participant experiences.
- Managing Rising Costs: Covering increased venue and accommodation expenses to continue hosting high-quality tournaments in premium locations.
Every dollar collected through this fee adjustment is being reinvested into improving your experience—whether through better venues, expanded competition opportunities, or enhanced event technology. These investments are designed to make APA events more rewarding for you.
Unmatched Benefits for Players
At just $25 per player, the LQB Program delivers exceptional value, offering opportunities to advance to the Championship Level with:
- Free Lodging: Three nights at the host hotel for all participants.
- Travel Assistance: Financial support for travel expenses.
- Skill-Level Matched Competition: Compete in your skill tier at the Poolplayer Championships, with substantial cash and prizes.
- APA 8-Ball Classic: Five skill-level tiers, with champions in each tier receiving $15,000 in cash and prizes. Total purse over $439,000.
- APA 9-Ball Shootout: Four skill-level tiers, with champions in each tier receiving $10,000 in cash and prizes. Total purse over $288,000.
From complimentary lodging and travel assistance to tiered competition that levels the playing field, no other program in the sport offers as much value for its participants. These benefits, combined with top-tier competition, create an unforgettable experience and foster camaraderie among players passionate about the game.
