Baton Rouge APA Fall 2025 Tri Cup Reminders:

Brackets, schedules and rosters are available online at batonrouge.apaleagues.com. This is a single elimination event. Teams advancing will compete at the Baton Rouge APA World Qualifiers May 21-25, 2026 at L'Auberge Hotel and Casino.

This event will be scored on paper scoresheets so make sure you or your opponent knows how to do so. If not let us know and we can provide a crash course if necessary.

One timeout per player, per rack regardless of skill level in this event. Players are required to participate at either their current skill level or that skill level at the time of qualification, whichever is higher. This should be reflected on the rosters so remember that the skill level shown may differ from your current spring session skill level.

There are no fees due for this event. Tables are $1.00 per game, split evenly by opponents.

Captains flip to see which team declares first. Each match should lag for the opening break.

This is a suddent death event. In 8- ball, teams must be in the fourth individual match by the 3:45 mark or any subsequent matches (matches in which balls have not yet been broken when sudden death is called) will be required to follow the sudden death procedures.

For 8 ball: sudden Death match in 8-Ball will consist of 2 racks (or games): the first rack will be
worth 2 points; the second rack (if needed) will be worth 1 point. If the 2 points won in
the first rack determine a clear winner, such that there is no way that the opposing team
can come back and win the overall team match, the match is over. If the two points
earned do not determine a clear winner, the Sudden Death match continues with a
second rack, which is worth 1 point.

Since the first rack of Sudden Death is worth more points than the second rack (2 points
as opposed to 1), the winner of the first rack in Sudden Death will receive credit for
that specific individual player match for tie-breaking purposes, should the teams
end up tied in total points at the end of the team match.

Keep in mind, there are a number of different scenarios possible in Sudden Death within
the 3-Point Scoring System, but the logic remains the same: the first rack is worth 2
points and the second rack is worth 1 point, and the match is officially over once a team
can no longer mathematically win the match.

In 9-ball, sudden death is called at the 3 hour mark. Any matches not yet started fall under the sudden death guidelines which simply means ball counts are doubled. (1-8 ball count for two points, the 9-ball counts for four points).

Please make sure if you were a high point winner or Big Dawg winner to pick up your team awards from the control desk prior to departing the facility.

If you have questions during the event, please politely stop the match and see us at the control desk.

Good luck and see ya'll this weekend!
