The Facts
A maximum of 3 players allowed on roster locally for qualifying and can add two players if desired following qualification. Team match Skill Level Limit = 15. If a qualifying tournament is held by the Local League Office, a team must enter with a skill level of 15 or less. If the team improves to where it can no longer comply with the 15-Rule during the qualifying tournament, then the team will be allowed to play up to 17 by using a modified race chart. If their skill level increases to 18, a replacement of players will have to be made to reduce the team skill level back to 15 before entering the Championship. The qualifying bracket must be submitted with the entry. Teams will be held to a maximum skill level of 15 for all entries received without the qualifying tournament bracket(s). Teams not participating in qualifying tournaments will not be allowed to start the tournament in Las Vegas at a skill level above 15. If the team improves in the Championship rounds and can no longer comply with the 15-Rule, then the team will be allowed to play up to 17 by using the modified race chart. If their skill level increases to 18, the team forfeits out of the event. One time out per team per rack will be allowed. Players may only participate on one team. Players must be from the same League area. Modified Single Elimination Combination of 8-Ball and 9-Ball formats.
Team Captains flip a coin to decide who must declare their three players for the match. Winner of the toss has the choice of declaring first or having the opposing Team Captain choose first. The Captains will list their players in ascending order (lowest to highest). That list determines the player rotation, and is locked for the match. Once both teams in a match have declared their players, the players cannot be changed unless the 15-rule is in jeopardy. Order of play will be lowest skill level to highest. Players lag to see who wins the first break. Alternate between 8- and 9-Ball racks, starting with 8-Ball.
Once the first two players have completed their rack of 8-Ball, the second two players in the rotation will play a rack of 9-Ball. Upon that rack's completion, the next two players in the rotation will play a rack of 8-Ball. The rotation resets to the first two players after that rack, and this pattern continues until a team reaches the required points necessary to win the match.
The team that won the previous rack breaks with the next player in the rotation.
Each individual rack is worth one team point.
Games Must Win chart will be used. Maximum field is 384 entries. (Size of board and prize money breakdown are based on number of entries.)
Players must have at least twenty 8-Ball scores or twenty 9-Ball scores within the last two years by the entry deadline of June 19, 2019. A combination of scores from the two formats is not allowed. Any player that has only 8-Ball scores, or fewer than 20 scores in 9-Ball, will play at one skill level higher than their established 8-Ball skill level. Any player that has only 9-Ball scores, or fewer than 20 scores in 8-Ball, will play at one skill level higher than their established 9-Ball skill level. (Exception - Skill level 7s in 8-Ball will play as 7's in 9-Ball, and skill level 8/9s in 9-Ball will play as 7s in 8-Ball).
Highest skill level between formats (8-Ball & 9-Ball) is used towards the 15-Rule.
Only one senior skill level player (6, 7, 8 or 9), may play in any given team match.
Players must have played at least four times in the Spring Session in the League area the team represents. Matches played can be in either the standard 8-Ball or 9-Ball format. Players must be on an active (Summer Session) APA roster in any 8-Ball or 9-Ball format (Ladies and Doubles included) or on a Masters Division roster.
