Master's MVP Race - Who (gonna be) Da' Man?

In our two divisions it's a heated race roughly halfway through the session...

In division 224 four players sit with unblemished records... Birdy Bradley (5/5), Blake Bosarge (5/5), Kevin Frazier (5/5) and Keith Degraw (4/4) are all tie for the lead with perfect marks.

In division 225 it's a logjam with multiple players with only one loss and a lone undefeated player at the top. Anthony Bamugo sits atop the standings at 3/3 on the session. Clint Schoppert is just back at 5/6 and Billy Kennedy at 4/5. Eight other players are lurking at 3/4.

If you're wondering what in the world is Dart talking about?...read on.

Ever since the Baton Rouge APA MVP Throwdown was created years ago, one glaring omission from the event was our Master's division players. Since the current MVP structure is based on a points per match configuration geared to standard format 8/9 ball as well as ladies 8-ball, Master's with their current match structure just didn't fit in.

So with that in mind, we've created a new event to coincide with our MVP program designed specifically for our Master's divisions players titled, "Who Da' Man?" While not gender based, the name is a playful commentary on who is the best of the best of our Master's division players... (not so secretly, we'd love for our lone female master's player, Erika Schneider, to qualify and whip the tar out of the men).

Qualifications will include 8 matches played during the session. The top two players (and any ties) from each division will qualify based on winning percentage. Players will play for the "Who Da' Man?" award and $500 ($350 for first, $150 for second). The total approximately mirrors the amount available to win in each of our MVP Throwdown tiers.

Since the "league year" for Masters (and ladies) has been adjusted to the spring-summer-fall format, this current session that just started is actually the spring session for those divisions (Haffner). The first "Who Da Man?" will take place in conjunction with the Spring 2025 Baton Rouge APA MVP Throwdown slated for July 13-14, 2025 at Kenny's Cue Club.
