Baton Rouge APA League Update:
If you did not watch yesterday's video, below is a synopsis of what was discussed. Please note that every date/timeframe listed is tentative based on developments both locally and nationally related to social distancing guidelines.
Nationally...
The APA has made several significant changes to its schedule for national events due to the ongoing restrictions on social gatherings from Covid-19.
They have moved the APA 8 and 9 ball team championships from August to late November/early December along with Masters and Ladies 8-Ball events.
They have kept the August dates and made it a Showdown Series event with 8 and 9 ball doubles along with Jack and Jill and the Team Captain's Championships.
Singles for 8 and 9 ball will be moved to 2021 and compete at the normal timeframe (late April/early May).
You can visit poolplayers.com for more information regarding the national events.
Locally ...
We have adjusted the schedule for our World Qualifier (City) based on recommendations from the national office. The Baton Rouge APA World Qualifiers will be held at L'Auberge on September 4-6, 2020.
We plan on concluding the spring session as originally scheduled so all match requirements to participate in national events are still in force.
If you need to make roster adjustments to conclude the session we will need to be made aware and approve (possibly through the national office) any and all changes in advance.
Teams will still be required to participate in the subsequent session(s) to participate in the World Qualifier.
IMPORTANT ... IMPORTANT ... IMPORTANT ... IMPORTANT
While a concrete date to restart weekly league play is still uncertain but edging closer, it is time to begin the process of assuring that teams/players/ host locations will still be available and participating when we restart.
With that in mind, I ask that all team captains check with their team(s) to ensure that when we do restart, you will have a team available and ready to play. This will assist me in making sure our host locations are able to handle the business if there are social distancing/capacity restrictions enforced and also allow me to make any schedule changes necessary to ensure a relatively smooth resumption of play.
IMPORTANT ... IMPORTANT .... IMPORTANT ... IMPORTANT
I'm asking EVERY TEAM CAPTAIN to check with their team and email me at batonrougeapa@gmail.com to let me know if their team will be returning for BOTH THE REMAINDER OF THE SPRING AND FOR THE SUMMER SESSION. I do not need any roster changes at this time for summer but if you will have a location change, please note it as well.
I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ALL INFORMATION IN BY MAY 1
With regards to host locations, I have already begun the process of checking in with them to ensure that they will be open and ready to go when play resumes.
MAKE UP MATCHES
if you still have a make up match outstanding, I have designated the first Saturday at 2 p.m. upon league resumption to be the date for any make up matches to be scheduled and completed. Trying to restart the league and coordinate matches with teams will be difficult and this will help avoid any issues. Please communicate this with your teams and have them ready to play when the time comes. I will post a list of outstanding matches early next week.
We will still have several qualifying events (Jack and Jill/ Team Captains/Spring Tri Cups) to schedule once we are allowed to return. We will schedule and post those dates quickly once play has resumed.
Jenny and I want to ensure all our players that while we are excited about restarting play, that the safety of our membership is foremost in our minds. We will continue to follow all local, state and federal guidelines while monitoring the situation and making decisions in the best interest of all our members.
Stay safe and we hope to see everyone soon.
