From time to time, I hear people talking about other pool leagues in our area. You'll hear that guy say "APA ain't give me nuthin"
So, I put together a few numbers for the 2021-22 pool year.
-At our World Qualifier, our teams going to Las Vegas receive $4800 in travel assistance, we pay the $250 entry fee, and they receive $350 with they register in Vegas. So, for each team we send to Las Vegas from the WQ, our players receive $5400. We sent 5 teams in 2022 totaling $27,000.
-Our Masters teams, possibly 2 teams if we have a masters division would receive Travel Assistance as well. We pay the $150 entry fee and $50 green fee for each team.
-Our Ladies 8-Ball team received $1300 travel assistance to go to Las Vegas. We paid the $200 entry fee and $40 green fee. The Second Ladies team received approximately $500 in TA as well as their entry and greens fee paid.
-We sent 4 doubles teams to Las Vegas this year. Each received approximately $1200 in travel assistance. We paid the $100 entry fee and $20 green fee for each.
-Our two team captain’s teams received a total of approximately $800 in travel assistance to go to Las Vegas. We paid the $150 entry fee and $50 green fee for each.
-Five of our players participated in the Poolplayers Championship (singles event) in Las Vegas. Each received 3 nights at the Westgate Resort ($1500) and $425 each of travel assistance when they registered.
-We hold tournaments at the end of each session for the teams that finish first during the regular session (Tri Cups). These paid $400 to the winning team for 8-Ball and 9-Ball.
-APA players can enter several APA only tournaments throughout the year. Each with 100% payback.
--We also sent 2 Jack & Jill teams to the World Pool Championships in Vegas this year. Each team received $600 in Travel Assistance.
We run the bounty program once or twice a session for free nights of play. Plus we’ve given out Good Sportsmanship awards for free nights of play as well.
-We do give aways at all our tournaments as well. All participating players receive a free raffle ticket.
-The teams that just returned from the WPC in Vegas also brought home $4600 in prize money.
A rough total for all of this is just under $50,000. That doesn’t include the player’s appreciation party, MVP tournament, supplemented singles boards, shoot for a cure event and anything else we come up with. Which there will be more added to the upcoming calendar release soon.
But the best thing APA provides is the opportunity to HAVE FUN, MEET PEOPLE and PLAY POOL.
So when someone comes up to you and says “APA ain’t give me nuthin”, you’ll know the real story.
