How do I get the APA patches I’ve earned?

This is one of the most common questions we get in the League Office.

Most players pick up their patches (along with their teammates patches) at tournaments. We have patches with us at all major tournaments. Anyone can come pick them up.

Any patches not picked up by the end of the session are delivered to your team in the Captain folder for the next session.

There is no mystery as to which patches have already been delivered. There’s a fun & nifty little chart online, where you can see all the patches each player has earned for this session, along with whether or not we’ve delivered each individual patch. IF we have delivered it, there are details there, outlining who we gave it to and when we gave it to that person. You can find that list at this link: https://northernnevada.apaleagues.com/CustomPage.aspx?q=539

Remember, we only plan on distributing patches to those who request them on the scoresheet on the night the patch is earned. If your scorekeeper forgot to request a patch that you actually want, an after-the-fact request can be made by filling out this form: https://forms.gle/ziH6XtaCVj9JdSKq6

Here’s a little quiz you can take to see what you already know about the Northern Nevada APA patches program. Remember to read the answers at the bottom.

4-Part "TRUE OR FALSE" Question:

(A) True or False: I'm a skill level 3. I Beat a skill level 6 in 9-Ball. I get a patch for that.

(B) True or False: I played 8-Ball last night. I earned a 3-0 score, so I get a patch - even though I didn't win the lag.

(C) True or False: A brand new gal joined my 8-Ball team last night. She won the lag and then won both of her matches. She gets a Rackless Night patch.

(D) True or False: The patches that my teammates and I have earned this session are a major mystery. There's no way to look up who earned what, and there's no way to check if those patches have been delivered yet.

ANSWER - All False!

  1. There is no such thing as an "I Beat a 6" patch in 9-Ball. In 9-Ball, there is an "I Beat a 7," "I Beat an 8," and "I Beat a 9" patch. In 8-Ball, there is an "I Beat a 6" and an "I Beat a 7" patch. You can see a complete list of available patches (along with their descriptions) at http://northernnevada.apaleagues.com/Uploads/northernnevada/Patches%202018.pdf.
  2. A Rackless Night patch is an 8-Ball patch. In order to earn it, you must win the lag and every rack thereafter. Winning the lag is part of the requirement for that patch.
  3. Patches that are impacted by skill level, such as "Rackless Night," "20-0 Sweep," "I Beat a 6," etc. are only given to players with a minimum of 6 lifetime matches.
  4. There is a cool little spreadsheet that anyone can view on our website. It lists all patches earned by each player this session, when they were earned, and when they were delivered. You can view that list by going to our website at NorthernNevada.apaleagues.com and clicking on "Player Weekly Patches" in the left margin.

All of this information is also outlined in a flyer in your team's Captain folder.
