Team Captains Tournament on April 11

by Northern Nevada APA

Registration for the Team Captain’s Tournament is now open.  This is an event that leads to Vegas, so the rules are very specific.  Please read the details before attempting to sign up. Detailed rules at: https://northernnevada.apaleagues.com/NewsArticle.aspx?q=6434

WHEN?  WHERE?

Tournament will take place on April 11 at Coconut Bowl. Doors open at 10am. Sign in at 10:15am. Advance sign-up required.   Call or text 775-443-8844 to sign up.

TEAM COMPOSITION?

3-Person Teams.  Maximum combined skill level of 15 with only one SL6 or above maximum per team. If you are a Captain that needs help finding a team, let us know.  We'll start a list and help put teams together if needed.

WHO CAN PLAY?

All participating players must be an APA Team Captain (of either an 8-Ball team or a 9-Ball team) for at least 2 sessions in the 2025-2026 league year - that is - at least 2 sessions between Summer 2025 session, Fall 2025 session, and the Spring 2026 session. (Masters Divisions don't count).

Each participating player must have 20 matches played in either 8-Ball or 9-Ball between 6/1/24 and 6/1/26 - STILL PLENTY OF TIME TO GET TO THAT POINT!  A combination of scores from the two formats is NOT  allowed.

Highest skill level between formats (8-Ball & 9-Ball) is used towards the 15-Rule. (SL 8's and 9's are considered 7's for purposes of calculating the 15 maximum).

ENTRY FEE/PRIZE MONEY?

$20 per person. 100% payback, plus an additional $750 added by the League Office.  Payback (in the form of travel money) to winning team.  Winning team goes to Las Vegas in August to compete at the 2026 World Pool Championships in the Team Captain's Championship.

GENERAL FORMAT

Order of play will be lowest skill level to highest.
Each individual rack is worth one team point.  A "Games Must Win" Chart will be used.  For example, when a team who is a combined skill level of 15 plays again a team who is a combined skill level of 9, it's a 5-3 race.  Alternate between 8-Ball and 9-Ball racks, starting with 8-Ball. Making the 9-Ball is a win.    Questions?  Call 775-443-8844.  Sign up by calling or texting us at 775-443-8844.
