Keeping score in the APA Scorekeeper App has simplified scorekeeping and made it more convenient in many ways, but sometimes we run into technical issues – like app outages or poor data or Wi-Fi signal – that prevent us from using the Scorekeeper App effectively.
Both teams in a match are still responsible for turning in their own scoresheet, even when the Scorekeeper App is down.
With these things in mind, be sure to have blank paper scoresheets on hand for those (hopefully rare!) instances when you’re having difficulty using the Scorekeeper App to keep score.
Teams who fail to turn in a scoresheet may not be awarded bonus points for that week. Due to the new weighted drawing for the playoffs wildcard team (see page 10 of the latest GSAPA Bylaws at https://apa-by-laws.s3.amazonaws.com/prod/984_bylaws_2022_052022_0442.pdf), bonus points can make a meaningful difference in your team’s standing when playoffs teams are determined. So, be sure to improve your team’s chances at making it into the playoffs by making sure you have a scoresheet to turn in!
Being prepared to deal with unexpected technical difficulties helps league night run smoothly so that everyone can keep having fun!
Blank paper scoresheets can be printed from the APA website:

Captains can be in charge of having blank paper scoresheets with them on league night, or they can delegate the responsibility to a reliable team member.
For new players who are unfamiliar with using paper scoresheets, please provide coaching to them or direct them to the scoring guidelines (flyers and videos) that are available on the APA website:

FAQs
Q: The Scorekeeper App went down in the middle of a match. We kept score on paper, but then the app came back up. Do we have to transfer everything to the app, or can we turn in part of the match electronically through the app, and part on paper?
A: Use your judgment - if it’s just a few racks on paper and then the app comes back up, it is best to transfer match data to the app if possible. If it’s complete matches on paper, it helps us if you can transfer it over, but not necessary. You may turn in a scan of the paper scoresheet separately. As always, we need complete score information for both teams in all circumstances, so incomplete and/or illegible information on a paper scoresheet could jeopardize the award of bonus points.
Q: We didn’t have blank paper scoresheets when the app went down, and kept score on an unofficial piece of paper. Can we turn that in?
A: No. However you keep score, you should transfer it into the Scorekeeper App or a blank paper scoresheet before turning it in.
Q: Do I have to print the official scoresheet for each week’s match-up once it becomes available in the app/on the website? That’s a lot of wasted time and paper if we don’t end up needing to use them!
A: No, you can just bring a few blank paper scoresheets with you on league nights as a generic backup in case of emergency. If you need to use one, be sure to write the team names and #s, player names, and date/week of play at the top. You can leave the roster section blank to make it simpler if needed, but please write the players’ names in the matches as usual.
Q: Where do I submit paper scoresheets?
A: Please scan paper scoresheets as a PDF (using your smartphone camera and an app such as CamScanner or Adobe Scan), or take a clear, full-frame, right-side-up photo of the paper scoresheet and email it to greaterseattlescoresheets@apaleagues.com.
