Happy Holidays Brevard APA members! We wanted to provide some information regarding the remainder of the Fall session and early Spring session schedule.  A lot is going on, and we have made a few changes to allow for a little more extended break between sessions.

Previously, playoffs were scheduled for December 18-23, a week off from December 24-January 1, and the league to restart on Sunday, January 2.  We wanted to have two weeks off for the holidays. Rather than shortening the Fall session on short notice, we decided to change the playoff week, leaving December 18 for the 2 Saturday divisions and Jan 2-6 for the remaining divisions.  This change will push the start of the Spring session to the following week, January 8.  Wildcard draws for the playoffs for the 2 Saturday divisions will be done before Monday, December 13, and the remaining divisions will be done the week of December 18-23.  Anyone with any makeup matches, please get them done in the next two weeks before the end of the session.  No more makeups will be allowed for the remainder of the session.

Doubles divisions should be finished. If anyone has any makeups left to be played, please get them done in the next two weeks.  Doubles playoffs will be January 3-15th, playoff matchups will be posted during the week of December 18-23.  The World Qualifier tournament for doubles teams will be on Saturday, January 29 for 8-Ball and Sunday, January 30 for 9-Ball at Island Breakers in Merritt Island.

We have a few tournaments coming up in the next few weeks.  There is a benefit tournament for Carl "Bubbles" Threlkeld this Saturday, December 11, at Chalkies in Merritt Island.  The format is three-person 8-Ball teams with a handicap limit of 16.  Teams will play their first game with their lowest handicapped player, the second game with their middle handicapped player, the third game with their highest handicapped player, and their 4th game will be Scotch triples (shooting alternating shots in order from SL lowest to highest).  The teams will continue this rotation until one team wins five games.  The entry fee is $60 per team. We will have a Toys for Tots scotch doubles tournament at Poolies in Palm Bay on Saturday, December 18.  This tournament will be double elimination, Scotch doubles, short rack 8-Ball Tournament with a max combined handicap of 12.  Short rack 8-Ball is played with four solids, four stripes, and the 8 ball racked in a diamond with the 8 in the middle.  We will be using the APA race chart based on the combined handicaps of the teams divided by 2 and rounded up (for example, a SL 5 and a 4 would be a 5).

Also, on December 18, we will be having a Christmas party at Poolies in Palm Bay, where we will be having a raffle tournament.  We will have around $3000 in prizes that we will be giving away.  Players will be playing tournament matches to win raffle tickets.  The tournament will be free for any Brevard APA members with a current membership for 2021.  We will also have a cash grab table where you kick 3 rails or more to land on $$ and a beat the league operator challenge table (both singles and doubles) where you can get a chance to win extra tickets.  More info will be posted on this later in the week.
